A hummingbird on a passport

Jamaica’s doctor bird is a hummingbird found naturally only on the island. Adult males trail long tail feathers in flight, and the bird is a national symbol that appears on Jamaican passports.

geography

Rain takes an underground route

Rain in western Jamaica’s Cockpit Country can disappear into limestone hills and travel underground. The Martha Brae River’s water supply includes this underground drainage: a river seen from a raft has a hidden part of its journey.
